Benefits of baking with kids

BAKING TEACHES PRACTICAL MATH.  While baking ask questions regarding quantities, volumes and show kids how to measure and guess what certain ingredients weigh. When they place 2 cups of flour into a bowl, they are counting. When they measure 3 cups of cocoa, they are learning about parts of wholes and fractions. Best of all, if they get all the math right, the reward will taste even better!

TEACHING NUTRITIONAL MINDFULNESS: Baking fosters an understanding of nutrition. With a greater understanding of quantities of sugary ingredients that goes into, lets say their favorite brownies, will lead to kids eventually understanding why they can’t have brownies for dinner. This promotes healthy eating.

NOT ROCKET SCIENCE, BUT SCIENCE

Ingredients change and react differently when they are mixed together, cream goes fluffy when whisked and chocolate melts when heated. Baking is a science experiment!
